Accident Summary:
AIRCRAFT WAS FLYING TAIL ON A LIGHT FIRE GUN TEAM ON THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT. THEY PROCEEDED TO LZ #5 AND THE TEAM LEAD MADE A SMOKE RUN TO MARK THE LZ. MR. TAGG, TURNED INTO COVER THE LEAD GUNSHIP. IT WAS AT THIS TIME THAT THE CREW NOTICE D A DEFINITE LOSS OF POWER AS THE TURBINE WHINED DOWN. MR. TAGG LOWERED THE COLLECTIVE AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET FROM THE INITIAL IMPACT AND FROM THE REMAINS IT MADE A 90 DEG TURN TO THE RIGHT BEFORE COMING TO REST.
