Well flight I am just sort of recovered from Kokomo and guess Gale's hand should be better by now. Have been trying to get my back & leg working again but the news in the mail from Social Security is another no. Also last Saturday my wife had a light go off over her head to camper for a motorhome even up. So today we traded our 06 for a 1989 Fleetwood 26' even up. I never thought it would fly but she did. So now I have wheels again for next year. So Mark are you going to have a get together next June? Still hoping for a bigger turn out in Kokomo also. All take care.

Gale sorry to hear about the finger. Do we start calling you stubby?? Well, I joined a group of Vets in Arkanas. We escorted the Moving Wall to Mark Tree Arkanas. I was lined up behind the bikes in my Red Blazer with my helicopter tag proudly displayed. The ride was great. But, when I seen people waving Flags off the over passes and pulling off to the side of the road. It got a little emotional. And, when we came through the small towns. The roar of the bikes brought everyone out to the streets. Friday we are excorting a few buses with 1 Cav. Vets to the Moving Wall. About a 40 mile trip. Fred Alvis we will be forming up on Hwy 55 N. in Marion, Ark. at 1300 hours. The day has brought back memories of Coldwater,Ohio a few years ago. Our Brothers will not Be Forgotten!! Always A Brother!!!

Paul, OK, I was wrong about having your e-mail address. Please send me something & your phone number so I can be up to date for you. I also found out that there is a problem with my recorder (DVD Part) so hope it just needs cleaned so have delays making copies of the flight tape. Guys the last thing is thinking of a way to include others next year from the 498th Dustoff and maybe others from Lane. Seems like we are the only ones who have it together so maybe it will keep growing each year.

Flight, I got home 'bout 2pm...nice weather all the way, but, is storming now. Took me about an hour to unload my truck as I brought back twice as much as I took over there. Heehehee. Mark, Ron suggested that some of us "local 129ther's" meet at his house sometime for a little cook out. You can bring a truck and I'll bring your stuff over there. I don't mind keeping it here, but,I really don't have the room.I wish I could build a pole barn.Oh yeah Mark, thanks to your axe blade, I just about cut my finger off Sat night! Just got home a short time ago with my stepson. I had been in no real hurry to fly again, but Paul insisted that Him & I had to go after he got back with his ride with Ron. Thanks to him putting up a loan we both got our chance to ride in the back with Ron at the controls. That was it for me knowing he was giving us the ride. When we got off Pete Rome was just taking off on the other side behind the 60. They made sure we got those seats and having my foot on the Gun Mount was even better after 28 years.

Yeah Kal, Kokomo was great this year. I was there Thursday and then had to head back Friday round noon. I did get to go up in the Huey but Ron wasnt there to pilot for me. I rode the Huey setting next to a gal who's name was, now get this, Paris H. (T.I.N.S).......Gale,Kenny's stepson Joe and I went up to listen to the band Thursday night at Kokomo and as I was there I was watcing the people and got a very strong feeling of how Larry would be acting and how much he would enjoying being there. Needless to say I had to hide my face so no one saw me crying. It was a VERY STRONG feeling. My eyes well up as I write about it.......I wish I could of stayed with the gang but had to get to that wedding in Cinci. Am home from that now. Take care all. Anyone wanting to see what we went through with Ike, look at pictures from Galveston, Gilchrist, Bolivar, And Crystal Beach Tx. Had family and friends that lost everything. The two beach communities just east of Galveston were basically wiped out along with the little town I grew up in. I was lucky. Levies in Pt Arthur held water out. I had very minimal damage.I have been home about two hours in the last month. Still no power. Luckily I have my camp with all the modern convenieces. Town 5 miles east of me had 9 feet of water in it.

Ken, I'll be traveling alone as my brother-in-law won't be with with me at Kokomo (he's sick),so,I probably won't drag the Shasta up there. Also about this time, i was working in the day room of the Va psych unit when the 2nd tower was hit. What a horrible thing on this date. Mark, thanks for the info. It was a double sided.. I've been cutting, splitting, stacking wood for the winter and got into some poison Ivy. Itchy-Itchy. I fell over some limbs and didn't know it at the time but a stick punctured the top of my forearm and it swelled up like crazy. Had to pick some pieces of wood out with a needle and tweezers. TO top it off I must have gotten into poison Ivy in that spot cuz now I got bumps all around the sore. It's been since Saturday, so It's getting better slowly. .Rob

Hey Robbie, if that's a double sided flag that is a real good price and thats about the norm for a single sided one. Check out your local VFW or American legion. Thats where I get mine. They usualy sell them at the best price......................

I was in Ft Jackson in A-7-2 in basic in 1960. It was hot. I was at Ft Knox in 1966 and was their a year, I was your friendly CBR Instructor for Officers and NCO's. I don't know if any of you attended any of the classes. We taught Officers and NCO's about CBR so they could lead their units in it and do the required training. Have a great day.

Gale, I don't think I would like Ft. Knox in the winter either. I spent a winter at Ft. Campbell Ky. 1968/69. Right before I got orders to go to Nam. Myself and a couple other guys I hung with Spent some time with some girls from Austin Pea University in Clarksville. That was a fun time. My job was to drive a corpral around in a deuce and a half all day. We took guys that were ets'ing around to the different places they needed to go to.

Bruno-------I talked with Auggie Bailey and Wayne Hagg both today-----August just got power back yesterday and had some damage to his garage and back fence but is doing well---------Wayne is still without power and has at least 8 more trees to cut up that he lost---he said still a lot of flooding in his area and may be a few more days before they get power back but are doing ok with what they have.---------------Still more possible weather for them in the next couple of weeks so we'll see how things go---------------the remnants of Fay are moving out of Memphis now but I leave Monday for Pa. and will most likely run right back into weather there with the other storm tracking towards the east coast.---------All in the timing.................Later........Snoopy.........

I'm just a youngster at 59 (60 in December). I entered the army in 68. They sent a bunch of ua yankees to Ft. Knox Ky. in June. Hotter than hell there in June. My cousin and I went in together and both got put on KP the first day there for talking in the mess hall.....Seems pretty funny now. Pissed me off then.

After getting to Ft. Hood in May or June of 70, I asked my 1st Sgt what I was doing in an Artillery unit when I was a 67N20. He told me to talk to the recruiting Sgt because he knew more about assignments etc. The recruiting Sgt said if I wanted to get back into Aviation all I had to do was re-enlist and I could go back over to my old unit. I told him I would make due with working in the motor pool until I got out. I didn't really care for Ft. Hood either, but I didn't like mustard back then either, but I do now. Don't know what the hell that has to do with anything, but I thought I would throw it in. Hope everyone has a good time at Kokomo... Rob

Alright guys, HHD, 1st of the 78th Field Artility, 2nd Armor from November 1971 to June of 72. That was after I finished up school at Ft Rucker till leaving for Nam. It also had half of a aviation company who were coming back from Nam and getting out of the Army. So at seventeen I got a cram coarse in calling in artillery to be a FO for the 155s. Than I also studied Vietnamese knowing wheere I was going and being told I would be dealing with them in country. Going to 1st Flt was a shock but never regretted it.

Yeah Bruno, I was in the 2nd armored division and our unit crest had a gauntlet on it and said brave cannons. I still have my dress greens with the Hell on Wheels patch etc on them. No way in hell could I fit into it though. I weighed 125 pounds when I got out. Oh and I did more than spit on their sidewalks for them.

Gale; that will work. wife says she will bake and freeze them ahead of time and we can use the roaster to heat them up. and while she is doing that i will run to town for icecream. question is now how many pies3-4? 9 inch pies get 8 pieces and 8 inch pies get 6 pieces. we would proabably have them an hour or so after turkey dinner. is the master baster going to be there this year? anybody heard from gently and joe?

Paul, I've got it! I'm bringing big "roaster oven" for my pork bbg on Friday night. I can clean it up Sat and use it for the pies Sat night. It will hold two 8" pie pans or we can do them one at a time if you want bigger. It says that beside the pans that the pies are in, to use a pie pan on top also when baking...or maybe foil will work!? That's why I needed Ken's generator. Vicky, wish you guys could be there. Hey guys, I've seen a device to actually bake pies beside a fire. It has a curved reflective surface that throws heat back to bake the back side of a pie... A camping store should have one..... Stickman says hi and maybe one year we'll come to Kokomo...
