Mark, I am sorry to hear about your brother as my oldest has been going to AA for about 17 years now. I wish you a safe trip and hope he is to the point that he wants help. Anyway my wife did me a favor the other day and hit restore on my computer before I could back things up. So had been trying to put it back together again. I am still so glad that we have a place to find support from all our brothers even if it is only a chance to pray to God for others.

First of all--------Thank you all for the comments and response to my update posting last week.------I have to admit it was a bit unexpected and I thank all for the kind words.-----Mark--I can completely understand the emotional roller coaster you feel---I spent more than 20 years off and on trying to find ways (rehab, threats, anger, etc.)to help the younger brother than just passed. Most times being seen as the "bad Guy" for advising the family to stop picking him up all the time and trying to make him accept responsibility for his addiction and accept propre car.--Such a waste of life--he had a great business mind and blew multiple management positions with national companies as a result of his addiction.------------------Bruno!!--Good to hear from you again--got to quit meeting like this---I have three more appointments in the next week for testing---They suspect Gall Bladder this time.------------Alvis--Call sometime when passing Memphis area---I-40 has to be in your route if you run a rig.-----I still cover TN.,Ms.,Ar.,Ky. in my territory and will soon have all southeast from Kentucky south to Key West and from The Mississippi River East Coast.----------------------Enough for now---there were a lot of notes since my last post to comment on but********* gotta go---------------best to all

Gary, sorry to hear off your loss.......Yes Robbie, got the email and photo. Sorry I haven't responded. Seems I have to put on my flight suit again. leaving for Hong Cong Wednesday Morning to go and get my older brother and bring him home for medical treatment and then to rehab. Seems alcoholism runs in the family. he went and got himself stuck in the sackie over there and his Chinese wife says he is in bad shape medically and needs dried out. No one to fly here with him and me being the only one with a passport guess I take the call. Prayed and stewed about it for a couple of days. Never did have a relationship with him but, he is my brother.I take the call. Hong Cong?????.This wasn't in my plans. Big city of 8,000,000 people for a lil' clod hopper from Ohio to go to. Kinda got the willys bout the trip as I did for the one to England. But, he is my brother.....Larry once wrote home from Vietnam that he was thinking about quiting flying but couldn't because the thing he noticed most when they would extract guys was how their eyes were as big as saucers and he just had to take the call. I just have to take this call........prayers for safe travel would be heart warming........I love you guys....talk to when I get back......always a brother.......

Well flight, 12 states and 4500 miles later, I am back.( till monday or tuesday). I am going to have to take phone numbers with me, as I passed very close to many of you.Robbie, spent most of one day near Rochester/Buffalo,Niagra Falls and down by Bradford PA. Spent one night in Savana georgia (garden city) but had no numbers to call and say howdy.
In six months time I can take passengers. I have invited Simon Johnson to come over from England on vacation, and ride with me to see the USA from a big truck..on Schneider Truckings dime.I hope he comes, that would be a hoot. His family, of course, would be welcome to stay at my place.
Glad to see all the como, this is the first place I checked.Jim,recieved the hat..will pass it on when Iget up later today.( I got home at 06:30 today and am a bit winded. later

To all my brothers who have lost someone my heart goes out to you. It seems like the past month or so has been hard on families from the 129th. You never know what will happen as my wife is trying to caught up on her sleep. I went to bed last night to get up and find out she was at the hospital with Brandon for those who know him from Mark's. The doctor said he has merca infection on his skin. Than my wife's neice showed up from being attacted while filling her car up with gas. Cops said that the Mexicans have been doing that for no reason here, but they did get to arrest several. Then it was a daughter in laws mother having a near complete heart failure and they may do open heart surgery tonight. So guess life throws things at us to learn how to deal and heel. You all be safe and hope things look up for everyone.

Ken....thanks for the research about the Kokomo lots you have been doing. That GP tent I had talked about has been sold and not around here any more. We really werent that far from the engineers last year but would be nice to be closer. A couple of years ago I sent away for Dad's WWII Marines records from St.Louis and got them. Found out some things that I had not known. After getting out of the Marines in 47, Dad tried to reup and go to Korea when it started. What a guy............Love ya all and take care........always a brother........

This is for everyone going to Kokomo next year. We had the problem with Gale's site this year and the guy I was talking to called me yesterday. "Ski" There was a mistake made and they had the same spot for two people even though Gale was the only one that was listed. The thing is he said I will be getting info in the mail in a few days about next year and thanked me for becoming a member. Ron wants to get closer to the Engineers but have not gotton much feedback from others. I mentioned the 509 and he told me what I need to do about that as well. For now I think we should keep options open, is anyone checking on St Lousis? Last of all I know who had the spots in Kokomo, is there anyone else that would need a spot as they are only 10' wide by 20' long. I will post more info as I find out.

Gale, When going back and dealing with St Louis a couple years ago I found only one thing that was there. The thing was when I filed in the begining for disabily the VA got all my medical records and right now they are in INDY. You can call them and make arrangements to review you medical records, this is so they can get them together and have someone set and watch you, they will copy anything you want. In my case I found exactly what I was looking for to send in for my Rt knee. Of coarse they still turned it down because I past a flight psyical ten days after my last treatment. Chronic Headaches, wow I have had them going back to when I was still in the Army to the point my vision gets blurred. That is connected to my Sinus but still try to get answers. I am posting this in hopes that it helps others locate records.

Fred S. .. Sorry about the Indians/REd Sox outcome. It wasn't for lack of trying, and I'd love to see Sizemore wearing red sox!!! I read one about dickie cheney and billo riding along with a Marine patrol, when a vehicle approached. bill and dick started screaming at the gyrenes to blast them before they could get close enough to detonate themselves. The Marines refused, and the two warhawks started berating them for falling for all the left wing, homo loving propaganda being spewed by the liberal press. A Marine sergeant calmly pointed out to them that while they didn't mind doing their jobs and killing the enemy, they would have a hard time justifying trying to take out an M-1A Abrams tank!..... Sorry Mark :>))

Flight, well it looks like Alvis' "big mouth" has been keeping this site pretty active recently. HeHhehheheh! With him gone on the road it's been way tooooooo quiet in here! I've been getting 10% service connected disability (tinnitus) for the last couple years and filed for 10% for "each" ear by advice from the DAV. Well, the courts ruled against us for the "each ear" change. I got denied for that plus I got denied for a claim of "chronic headaches".....................which I've never even filed a claim for. That's right, the Dr's were checking my hearing, etc. and in the process they were asking questions about hearing and headaches, which I clearly stated that I did not have chronic headaches, and it's in the records that I stated such. Next thing I know there was a claim for that, so, I just went along with it and got denied! Question.....how can I get all of my military records? I've recieved some from the Nat'l Records Center and the VA Dept of Health in St Louis, but, I'm sure that's not all of them. In this last denial info, they have mentioned things from my military records that are not in my possesion. When I was reading it I felt like they were talking about someone else. Could they have someone elses records mixed in with mine? Naaaaaa...not the VA. Flight, once again it's almost Christmas card time and I need to update the addresses, so, if you have a new addy, want off my list, want on my list or whatever.................it's time to let me know. Fred Skaggs
NJ USA - Friday, October 19, 2007 at 03:25:10 (MDT)
Here something to smile about: Dan Rather, Katie Couric, and a tough Marine Sergeant were all captured
by terrorists in Iraq. The leader of the terrorists told them that he would
grant them each one last request before they were beheaded.
Dan Rather said, 'Well, I'm a Texan; so I'd like one last bowlful of hot
spicy chili.' The leader nodded to an underling who left and returned
with the chili. Rather ate it all and said, 'Now I can die content.'
Katie Couric said, 'I'm a reporter to the end. I want to take out my
tape recorder and describe the scene here and what's about to happen.
Maybe someday someone will hear it and know that I was on the job till
the end.' The leader directed an aide to hand over the tape recorder and
Couric dictated some comments. She then said, 'Now I can die happy.'
The leader turned and said, 'And now, Mr. Marine tough guy, what is your
final wish?'
'Kick me in the ass,' said the Marine.
'What?' asked the leader? 'Will you mock us in your last hour?'
'No, I'm not kidding. I want you to kick me in the ass,' insisted the
Marine.
So the leader shoved him into the open, and kicked him in the ass.
The Marine went sprawling, but rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol
from under his flack jacket, and shot the leader dead. In the resulting
confusion, he jumped to his knapsack, pulled out his M4 carbine and
sprayed the terrorists with gunfire. In a flash, all of them were either
dead or fleeing for their lives.
As the marine was untying Rather and Couric, they asked him, 'Why didn't
you just shoot them in the beginning? Why did you ask them to kick you
in the ass first?'
What,' replied the Marine, 'and have you two assholes report that I was
the aggressor?'

Hi Phil and welcome to the site. Good to see you post here.. Thanks for your efforts in attempting to get the 509 to DC for us. As great as it would be for us to be able to see and toutch the 509, it has to be said that, this would be one gigantic undertaking with enormus expenses, not just getting it here but the flight costs per hour are humungous. I must say that I feel like I am taking advantage of your good intentions and don't think you ought to be bearing this much of an expense, as most of us here have spent lots of hours onboard ships like the 509. My last Huey ride, at the Atlanta reunion, was GREAT and I am sure all of us would love to do it again, but I just feel the expenses involved to you are far and beyond what could be expected. Anyway, those are my thoughts and feelings on the subject.. Maybe I am just trying to be a bit more realistic than I should but it needs to be said/expressed.. Thanks!!.. Love and Brotherhood.. Just wanted to say a massive thanks to you all for everything you have done in the effort to get Huey 509 to The Wall in Washington. The response from you guys has been amazing and is really appreciated. Unfortunately this Project was not to be this time as the permission from the National Parks Department in Washington, despite everything possible being done to gain their approval, has sadly not been forthcoming.
Not being able to bring Huey 509 across to Washington for you is a great disappointment to me and everyone here in the Huey Crew but I do not consider this to be the last word on Huey’s travels and would still like to think we could get the Huey across there to you sometime; somewhere else if not Washington.
Once again, thanks everyone.
Kind regards, Phil

morning flight, well it dosen'T look good about 509 in D.C. IF ITS DOESN'T HAPPEN I THINK THAT HAVING 509 AT THE REUNION THIS YEAR AT ST. LOUIS WOULD WORK OUT BETTER FOR TWO REASONS. ONE WE HAVE MORE TIME TO WORK IT OUT AND SECONDLY SINCE THE REUNION IS IN ST.LOUIS AND BEING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COUNTRY I THINK WE MIGHT GET GUYS FROM THE 129TH TO THE REUNION WHO HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE REUNIONS BEFORE. WHAT DO ALL THINK. ALSO IF IT CAN BE DONE HAVE 509 FLY AROUND THE COUNTRY TO VARIES LOCATIONS. DO A FLIMMING LIKE THE SHADDOW OF THE BLABE.BUT THIS TIME WITH 129'ERS.FOR THIS WE HAVE TIME FOR.JUST A THOUGHT.

homeland security has denied me a HAZMAT endorsement on my CDL because I didnt send in my green card numbers. They saw Panama written on my "place of birth" and figured I was an alien.I suppose they couldnt read the " Fort Clayton, Panama Canal Zone" part.No telephone numbers to contact them..all must be done by mail. jeeze..guess thats what I get for being an Army Brat. I also suppose they couldnt check on my SS number, which I have had since 1964.I suppose the cant check out my AMERICAN Citizen passport, the second one I have had since 1978 or so. Perhaps they arent there to keep people out,but keep people in. This burucratic BS is just to funny to be angry. It isnt the firt time I have ran into it.A few years ago I went to replace a lost SS card.Unpon applying for the car..the lady ask me my place of birth. After replying, Fort Clayton, Panama Canal Zone,Panama, she looked up at me, dead in the eye, and ask " What state is that in"?.

I would really love to see her at Mark's, but also have to say it is best where the most of us plan on showing up next year. Kokomo would be interesting too if she was parked and let people touch her without having to pay for the honor. I was thinking about that today because of the time it takes to get a ship to Boston. Hope we can get a lot more imput and when I start dealing with them at Kokomo I will ask about it too. Take care flight!

I just checked my email, one from Simon in particular. He says that the trip to the wall looks like a no-go at the moment, they are pondering getting it over here next year, Somewhere! Simon ask me to relay the question of where? They havent given up on the idea eof bringing Miss Jo (509) over here to some sort of event. Sugestion so far are ..the next VHCMA reunion, the "run to the wall", and the Kokomo reunion. For the sake of argument, I should mention Marks place as well. Simon ask if there are any dates significant to the 129th ect.ect.ect. They are VERY open to sugestions at this time. Lets here them guys and gals.

Lou, I have only one 129th ahc patch left. I got the patches from Simon and Phil, from the "509" site. I will contact him to see if we can get a few more..or you can. In my free time I wanted to ue my last patch to go to " Office Depot" to try and get some hats, ect. made using that patch as a model. If anyone else has an extra 129th patch, can they please give Lou a holler. I just sent Simon some patches (Tiger and Whitehorse), so maybe I can talk him into sending a few more 129th paches over here.Meanwhile, I will mail you the Tiger patch, with your check that was included in your letter. I appreicate the offer and thought, but I dont do this for money. I recieved them for free, as a gift to all of us.Its a small way I can give back to the 129th family here, that has given me so many hours of pleasure, wisdom, feedback, and caring. I truly hope to meet you at a reunion.Another I hope to meet is CP. I am truely sorry I missed him at Marks gathering last July.

fellas, and ladies, I recieved an E-mail from Phil C. today. There may not be enough time left for interaction with all the goverenment bodies involved,to bring the 509 here to the wall.We are hoping things fall together, but time is growing VERY short.Phil and crew expressed keen disappoint in the ways things are looking. There is still a glimmer of hope, but we all know how U.S.goverenment agentices move. I personaly would like to express my graditude to all those involved in this effort.Flight,"you done good". Good morning flight, somedays while checking in to see what is going on here I feel lucky that I fought to get on the VA system before getting out. So even years ago when I was at 20% I always had the VA to fall back on. Same with my brother in law from Florida, he has melanoma along with the long list of other things that are killing him. My advise is to look for anything that could get a foot in the door now. Even the guys that are lucky enough to still be healthy. In 03 when this Korean lady turned in front of me the VA was there and if I wasn't drawing disablity I would be in a really bad way. Social Security is a real joke here in Indiana and I have known too many people who died before getting a dime. I thank God for the VA even though they can make life a living hell too. To all my brothers, don't ever give up.

Art, I agree with Fred Skaggs... I had melanoma several years ago, and I understood it comes from unhealthy exposure to UV radiation, like fishing without a shirt on up in the mountains. This is from another blue eyed blonde. I'd be surprised if you're successful with that one!

Alex.....I hear they like their music "both ways" in Branson.....Country and Western.....It`s just a joke my friend....But on the real side, if you guys that are trying to get Post Stress, I wouldn`t do any "coaching" on this web-site.....it`s public.....just like "Facebook" or "Youtube".....What`s to keep the VA from looking into these web-sites......just talk about it on the back channels. Just something to think about.....Me personally, anything that happen to me traumatic....I don`t need to be reminded. I remember it as plain as yesterday....I remember Cambodia in 1970....nasty mission, but the 129th , we were either real good or real lucky or both. I can`t remember us losing a crewmember or ship....But I remember my drunkin father(God Rest His Soul) coming home and pulling a gun on my mother. It misfired, so he threw it a her, she blocked it with her foot and broke her ankle....that was traumatic. I remember my mother taking a 1960 Buick LaSabre Station Wagon and myself and two younger brothers....and living in the station wagon...in a city park. She would go look for a job, and I would babysit my brothers.....we were homeless before they coined the phrase......that was traumatic. But we got to have White Castles for dinner everynight...so that kinda made it OK. I remember drowning my puppy by accident, when I was 5 years old...that was traumatic. I didn`t think I would go to Heaven, but my Grandma made me feel better about that. ....I remember my wife being pregnant 3 times....only to be lost by miscarriages....that was traumatic. It`s hard to be a 3 time loser, I would have had 2 girls and a boy....that was my dream....by that point, adoption was not a option for us.......So for me Viet-Nam is so in the "rear-view"....but I remember everything. I don`t remember any "zappers" getting into AnSon or Lane....The Koreans had that AO lock down....nobody was gonna mess with the Koreans......If you were in a flight platoon.....you pulled "daytime" guard duty....well when I was there. I did make some neat "gun powder" bombs on guard duty. But I got two Bronze Stars and a Soldiers Medal, so I did do my job......That doesn`t mean that I disrespect anyone with post stress...it just means I handle things different. And I`m not saying that Nam didn`t effect me....some have said that I have post stress. But at this point in my life, I`d rather one of these kids coming home from Iraq or Afgan to be able to reep the benefits.....they will need it a hell of alot more than I do.....

Aloha Nui everyone,
Just doing my once in awhile check in. Sounds like Kokomo was fun. One of these days I'm going to show up on the mainland. Things are stable here, the lava has settled down for now, and the waves have been fun. I passed a kidney stone a few weeks ago after twenty four hours of intense pain. I never knew a person could feel such pain! I did discover why morphine is a controlled substance. The VA is flying me to Tripler on Oahu tommorrow to see a Urologist. We are truely blessed here with a first rate VA Medical facility. Hope all of you are doing well. Greg

First remembering our fallen brothers from then and now. Also to let everyone know that my medical situation has been worse again the past few days and I am only hoping that the 509 makes it here. I am playing it by ear to how I feel in November, right now riding a few miles is killing my back. It really does add to my list of things that have to be done everyday, but trying to keep up. Flight! Nothing new to report on getting 509 to The Wall. We do have people in the highest places assisting. So think positive. Now for the good news!!! I do have a CD that may help with the 509 and it will also help everyone get $$$ for their trip to DC. Simon had sent me a CD he had produced "Huey 509 to The Wall Project." The problem was getting it to play. I could play it on my TV but nothing else. Yesterday I made a connection with a gent who owns a video reproduction company. When I mentioned Huey he said "you must be a Nam Vet." It just happens he was in a Bird Dog unit in 1968. I told him the story and gave him the CD. He stuck it in his computer and could not get it to play. After trying several things he finely got it going. He said he would get back to me. This morning he gave me a call and asked how many copies I wanted and when I could stop by for the CD's. Said he needed to show me how to get them to play. What he really wanted was to see my expression when he showed me the CD. He had gone up the web site and copied a picture of 509. They did a beautiful job. On the top half of the CD it says; HUEY 509 TO THE "WALL" PROJECT. On the bottom half they have a picture of the 509 hovering. This company does orders for hundreds of thousands of CD's at a time so this is a first class CD. When I asked what I owed him he said "Nothing! this is my part of helping you guys out." So, I have 25 CD's and can get more if we need them. I will overnight one to Mark in the morning so he can post it here on the web. Anyone else who wants one just let me know your address, either here on send me an e-mail. rp34cg at comcast.net. You guys can use this CD to show your boss why you need a few days off, and just as important you can use it to help get funds to help cover the cost of the trip. There has to be civilians, business's, vets groups, etc. in your area that you can show this CD to that will give a few $$ to help you get to DC. If you need suggestions or ideas give me a call 317-856-6867. If I am not home leave your number and I will call back. I have unlimited calls, so it won't cost me anything to call back. I am serious guys. This CD will help you get $$ for this "Once in a life time chance." Don't miss this opportunity. Love and Brotherhood, Ron Paye

Fred, one of the fathers of our WI Fallen is also taking the traing at Schneider's. His name is Brian Jopek. Brian served in Iraq and when his son, Ryan, was deployed to Iraq he wanted to visit the place his father served at while there, Mosul. Ryan voluntered for a mission to Mosul so he could visit where his dad served...He was killed on his way back from the mission. Let me know if you run into him..he knows both Joe and I. He's a nice man, very quiet..all military. Meanwhile, the best on your training, and whenever you see me on the side of the road:>)))) you better toot that horn:>)) L-Gently

Well, off on the road again today thru Friday (to CA). Thank goodness for ExpressJet! Can you believe an airline that still serves food! Glad to hear things seem to be headed in the right direction with the 509 request! Folks, if you get a chance, get Ray G. a shout. He's in a lot of discomfort and I think can use some moral support! I'll check in during the trip! Always A Brother! Bill

Got a call from Washington DC this afternoon from Rep Buyer's Office that he would send a similar letter as Sen Burton's to the Parks Department today. I hope we can still get enough push to get this as a done deal. He was very supportive of the idea and why it was important to us as a unit.

Quick note to all, sent my letters to Rep Buyer Friday so hope that will help some too. Also I am still waiting for some kind of feedback about Kokomo next year. Will be sending them a hundred for a lifetime membership this week plus writing Ski about when we could get the sites reserved if I am a member. Let me hear back ASAP with opinions you all might have.

Kal, thanks for the info, and thanks to Gary Woodward for sending me an email with info. A letter has been sent to New York Congressman James T Walsh. asking him to help with bringing 509 in by the Vietnam Wall. Also sent the letter from Ron Paye. Ray, it was good talking to you the other day, and I hope you get to feeling better soon. I sent an email to Ray Smiley the other day. I was his door gunner for a month or so in 1969 and was proud to fly with him. He sent a msg asking me to say hi to anyone who knew him....Rob
