Dearest One,
Based on your profile, the trust and God's divine guidance that I have this great opportunity linking up to you, though we have not meet before but I believe that one have to risk in confiding his secret to succeed sometimes in life.
My name is Evelyn Hanson,a 19 years old undergraduate. I am only daughter of chief/Mrs Roberts Hanson a major cocoa exporter cum politician. I am native of Lorma in western part of Liberia, Africa.
I was born out of tragic late. my mother died from cancer when I was only 4 years old, my father nurtured me with great care and love before he met his own untimely death on the way coming back from business trip from overseas, on his arrival to the airport his driver went to drove him back home on the way they have a fatal car accident which killed his driver at spot while my father spent 3 painful days at hospital before dying. My uncle seized all my father's companies and properties because of our traditional believe that I'm a woman. I was left with nothing and dropped out of school because of financial difficulties and my uncle's wicked attitude. My father told me a deep secret on his sick bed which I want to share with you in a full confidentiality. He deposited a huge sum of $7million Dollars usd) in one of reputable security company in Abidjan Cote D' Ivoire because of political instability in our country Liberia without the knowledge of my uncle.
Presently I'm in Cote D' Ivoire since the civil war broke out in Liberia as a refugee in one of missionary home while my uncle flew to the London with his children. Although I have contacted the security company they confirmed the lodgement. Dearest One i want you to do for me is to step forward as my foreign partner to the security company so that the money will be retrieve, I have all the necessary information to back you up. I will sincerely give you 15% out of the money, 5% for any expenses incurred during the transaction and the rest will be used for any investment preferred by you in your country.
I am pleading to you with the name of Almighty God to help me out of this problem. Coincidentally Cote D' Ivoire is now having its own political unrest too,
I waiting to hear from you soonest Thanks,
Your Sincerely
Ms Evelyn Hanson.

Mark, the ROKs didnt pull guard duty around Lane,we did. As far a columns of smoke go..the onl ones I saw close to Lane were from the Pop-o-san,burning...well,let just say one didnt want to get in the smoke. Most I saw were when we were on CAs,one in particular that Kim remembers cause he flew it also ( Woodward did too I think),it looked like hell on earth..literly. Was the largest CA I was on.The gunnies were laying down a huge amount of fire power.I think that wa the one were 50cals were recocheting back up into the flights of slicks.

Jim, I think it helps to talk about it now as I dreamed my wife and I were in Vietnam for some reason. Mark, the ROKs were on one side only at Lane. I pulled guard duty in a tower one night with another guy and we watched the ARVINs in a fire fight about five miles East of the tower. The Firefly missions I went on were also very close to Lane in the valley closer to the ARVIN Base at the tip of the mountains towards Phu Cat which by than was also ARVIN. Everyone have a great turkey day..

I was on my way home the other day. takin' the back roads again. It has always dawned on me when I see off in the distance a plum of smoke raising up. Probably some farmer burning stuff. But it always makes me think of the battles you were in and how you probably saw plums of smoke off in the distance also. I try to judge what distance it is away from me and then think about how you may have felt when you saw one, then realized that they weren't all that far away. Were there times at Lane when you you could see smoke from rounds that either you guys fired or the fast movers dropped near Lane. Guess my question is, just how close does anybody ever recall the enemy getting to Lane? I know that the ROKS held a tight perimeter around Lane but such as Gale told me once that they told him to "Fix Bayonets" during TET 68. That's pretty close/ Just wondering?........Take care all. All have a great Thanksgiving. One of the things I am most thankful for is YOU, and all that you have done for my family. Healing being a very big thing that you have brought. THANKS and God Bless all of you and your loved ones...............always a brother...........

why it never ends,I just dont know. Fella here was talking to another fella...my ears perk up when he says he was in Vietnamin 63 and then did another tour in 67,jut in time for Tet. I ask where he was.Course he didnt know cause he was "special ops seals" and spent his time in Loas and Cambodia. He goes on to say he was a "shooter" (sniper). I ask where he was baed out of.."across the bay from Siagon" he says," where all the river boats were parked."Hmmm", I say,"Siagon was on a river, not the ocean." Didnt matter,he goes on to say he never wore a uniform, the just wore black and didnt have any patches or ID.Me thinks he knew just enough to fool someone that didnt know better. Why people have to steal honor from Nam Vets,I just dont know. Its sad.

A big "Thanks" our England brothers!!!!! See you in Kokomo 2009!!! Hello from England. Long time since I've posted anything but a book published in May of this year has been brought to my attention that talks about the 129th so thought I'd bring it to your attention. It's called 'A Pilot's Tale - Flying Helicopters In Vietnam ' and written by William Heilman, he apparently flew with the 129th in 1967 and he talks about supporting the 101st Airborne and then switching over, while he was there, to supporting the Koreans. This is a link to the book on Amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pilots-Tale-Flying-Helicopters-Vietnam/dp/143571184X/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1226860183&sr=8-15 Do you already know about it and does anyone remember him? Thought you would be interested. If you do already know about this book then forgive my ramblings. Bye for now Simon.

FYI: Hello Gently
I was the A/C (Aircraft Commander) on 19 Feb. 1971. Paul Nolen was wounded on board aircraft # 66-16171.
The Crew Chief was Tony Vega, Paul Nolen was filling in for Gary Mount the Door Gunner.
We were working for the Arvins. The mission was hunter/killer, we were snoopy low, High ship A/C was Cpt. Schmiedt , the gunships were from the 361st ,the FAC was from Phu Cat.
We had equipment on board that detected concentrations of people or animals.
We had contact and popped smoke, and all hell broke loose. We were hit with small arms fire,a RPG hit the gun mount on Nolen's side. The shrapnel peppered Paul from head to toe.
I found the aircraft on a google scearch 66-16171.

Have not been on the site in some time. Wanted to wish everyone from the 129th good health and a Happy Veterans Day. Hold your heads high for stepping forward for your country.
I was in Montrose Colorado October 15-22 visiting with Dave Powers. Was great to see him after 36 yrs. Dave has a great family and a good life. It was nice to see him and meet Darlynn and their family. Dave has six great good looking grand kids. Lots of love in that house.
Dave took me snagging for Salmon and we hunted elk in Beaver Park for four days. No luck on getting a bull elk, but it was beautiful country and a great trip. I did have six cow elk come within 30 yds, what a site.
Greg Henkel would like to hear from you sometime. Enjoy the warmth of the islands getting colder than you know what in Pa. Has snowed twice already.

Welcome Home and to the site Don!!.. I and a few others of us were there at the same time you were. I flew with the second platoon and left for home in Oct of 68. One of the best ways you will find to get back into the swing of things here is to attend one of the reunions or get-togethers, like Kokomo, that come up each year. We have evolved into quite a "familey" here and are always looking for new, lost siblings. I hope you find what you are looking for here and just yell if we can be of any help.. Take care.. C U L8r.. First, Mark & Gale - what date are you guys looking at for INDY? I am still having a lot of trouble getting around but would like to see ya all. I also know that politics can be a sore subject but always hope we all can share opinions without getting so upset. Looking back I have seen before that an election can give us a lot of fear & worry for the future. So knowing that I also know we do need to pray that Obama makes a good President. After I posted on the 4th I found myself defending him here over crap that isn't true concerning him. My issues from the past were because of President Carter cuting the military budget so much that by the end of his time we couldn't deal with Iran. We may all be shocked if he does make things better around the world. Lets all hope! & Pray! I didn't get a chance to vote that year he won because the military didn't get ballets from Indiana. Now that is something that sure should not have happened again this year.

I haven't been on for awhile and would like to wish everyone well!! I'd also like to remind everyone what Mark pointed out earlier about political posts. They don't really have a place in this healing, meeting and greeting forum. We fought for the American right to disagree, but there are better places to do it than here. Thanks to everyone that voted. I wasn't old enough when I went to Vietnam, but haven't missed an election since. I especially like local campaigns, where I feel my voice is louder. So, my friends; Be well, get some exercise if you can, and have a wonderful Veterans day. Aloha, Greg Henkel

Hey guys, just wondering if you have heard on the radio a commercial for Ford. Some have the turn signals talking to the driver. One has the wiper blades and there is one that has the drivers wallet talking to him about how he (the wallet) is stuffed a lot more then usual. driver tells him it;s because he is saving gas by going to the Dealer for repairs. Well, to me the voice of the wallet sure sounds like Paul of the dust off at Lane the cookie man from Kokomo. Anybody else heard it? If you do tell me what you think....

Mark, do they have anymore Homan`s on that Coldwater team?......Ross is going to be playing on Sundays someday.....Really a great linbacker.....I was thinking there was a younger brother also on OSU roster, but they might be "red-shirting" him. That young freshman quarterback for OSU is not as good as I thought he would be, he looks awkward when throwing the ball.... Is St. Henry any good this year? Good friend of mine in Columbus, his son has signed to play for Iowa next year. OSU wanted him to "walk on", but Iowa would give him a full ride. My buddy said, " Ames, Iowa.... he can`t get into too much trouble there, so he`ll be studying, instead of chasing girls in High Street bars".
