Flight,
I'm back. Wounded, but not down. I want to thank everyone for the messages and phone calls of support. I especially want to thank the two angles from Milwaukee for making the trip up. Gently and Joe, what can I say,,,, you are the best. The flowers from the 129th were some of the first to arrive. It took my breath away when I saw the 129th ribbon. My dad was very active in the American Legion, and was on the honor guard. He was buried in his Legion uniform. I have his Legion cap. It and the 129th cap will be placed in an arrangement in honor to him. (a side note) I see where Judith posted a note where my dad would bring sailors home from the ship yard so they would not have to be alone. True story and it happened often. After the funeral we were all sitting around reminiscing. Some one mentioned that and one of my brother said, ya but he was just trying to get rid of my sister:>))) My dad would have loved it. His sense of humor and why so many people loved him. My dad lived live to the max, on his own terms, and went as we all would like to. So again! My most humble thanks to all. I am at peace with our loss.
Love and Brotherhood.

Flight: Ron Paye should be very proud of his dad. I have never been to such a large funeral service. We had to wait 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to get to the recieving line at the Wake on Friday night-the building was packed! Ron introduced us to his entire family and made us feel very proud to be his friend. The funeral on Saturday, again, was packed. Very kind words were spoken of Ron's dad by the priest, emphasizing what a good friend Ron's dad was to so many people, as was evident by the huge turn out. One example he gave was how Ron's dad would bring sailors home to stay with them when they had no other place to go-opening his arms and home to those servicing in our Armed Forces. What a man! What an example he was-it explains why we all appreciate his son, Ron, so much. We all know Ron to is a very giving and kind man, like father like son. We were going to stay for the "gathering" and lunch after the service(which included a 21-Gun Salute) but, again the building was packed! We gave Ron, yet another one of those 129th hugs and departed.
The floral center piece was big and beautiful-red, white, and blue, with a ribbon on the front that said "129th" in gold lettering. And attached to that ribbon was our 129th hat.
Joe and I were proud to be there....for Ron...for the 129th and the Vietnam Veterans of America. Ron, know you are loved. Know you are blessed in many ways. You dad was certainly a wonderful man, who touched many a person. Gently

Well gang just waiting for the roads to get plowed and we will be heading out. Will plan on spending the night down around Rockford Il. Going to try and meet up with Ted B. and his 6 at the Red Roof on State St. Then get up early and make the dash across Indiana. I was worried about wind today so I filled the box of the truck with snow and watered it down. That should melt down about time time I hit warm wx and good road. :-) Ted Buisker it will be 7 or 8 PM before we get to Rockford. That is just a guess it all depends on roads. Gus

We have one eye on the WX here. They have winter storm advisory out for MN and WI for tonight. I am hoping they will get it cleaned up for friday departure. Most places are calling for wind of 15 - 20 mph and if there is freezing rain we may have a problem. If I can get down below Madison WI I should not have a problem. Flight: Well a whole lot of action for the POP-A-TOP this weekend. Sorry I won't be able to make this trip. But, get plenty of pictures for the gallery. Appreciate the hats that Ron and Jamie DeBates have gotten for us. I am Waiting for mine now. Well the reunion is getting close. Still trying to locate some of our 129th Brothers whom are not on line. So I am sendind out letters hoping to get a respone. I hope when the personnel rosters get on the web. It will put a spark into everyone to help in locating our lost Brothers. I am still trying to get more personnel rosters from St. Louis. Well In June I will become the President of the VHCMA. And to have most of you from the 129th there. Will be great. Just want to take a second to say thanks a real brother Mark Jackson. He have given me the push back in 98 that I needed to start finding our Brothers of the 129th. But, this web site has attracted many. And with the resources of the VHCMA I have been able to find some of our Brothers and Help reunite some also. Thanks Brother for that encouragement to push on. Alex 129th 65-68

Brothers and Sisters, Few days ago I logged on to say I found a photo of a couple of" great brothers" and I was e-mailed by another "good brother" that we had lost Brother Jay "Shakey Pete" Hillon in the 70`s in a car accident in Washington state. That really put me down for a "8 count". But this morning, my spirit is on the raise today. I received a e-mail,and I`m so proud to tell you all that we have a 129th BROTHER, RON INGERMUNSON, A RETIRED FIREMAN FROM PORTLAND,he has been working at GROUND ZERO, that makes me even more proud. Just thought I would share that with you all.

Good Morning Flight, I`m just catchin up here, in-laws(outlaws) were in town all last week. So I haven`t used this "little machine" for a while. Found some photographs this week-end, I have a picture of two guys from the "Cobra Platoon"1970, it`s taken at"the party room" at Dust-Off. One of the brothers name was Charlie, he was a weapons specialist with the Cobras,he worked on the mini-guns,rocket pods etc. Charlie was a great artist, he painted my helmet and most of the Cobras helmets. Charlie was from "Frisco" and probally gay, but one hell good guy and good soldier. He also did alot painting of our logo`s(call signs) for all the copters. The other fellow was named Pete and they called him "Sneaky Pete" or it was "Shakey Pete", Pete was a CE for the Cobras. What a crazy young man he was. Do any of you Cobras remember those guys? If anyone remembers the"Dust-Off Party Room", it was a kinda "free party zone". Dust-off pilots, few of 129th pilots, CE`s, Medics, and a small crew of gunners and CE`s from the 129th, but when you were there, no rank was involved. We were all good friends, for a couple of hours we were not in Nam. We had our own "Woodstock" every night or we were "back on the block" for a while. ENOUGH!!! MARK, you make me feel old when you talk about your grand kids, but that`s a good thing brother. Let me get something done today!!!! See ya all later PEACE and LOVE, Fred Skaggs Bulldog664

Hi everyone!
Being new to the 129th homepage, I just wanted to introduce myself. I was with the 129th late 1969 til '70. While I was with the 129th was basically airframe repair and only flew a couple flights. In addition, was stuck with the charge of reactionary force for about 6-months, thanks to SSG Eckbert (anybody know what happened to him?). I had the ominous priviledge of bunking in the hooch immediately next to TOPS hooch (I still have my original fatigue shirt with all the little flashette holes). I do have some photos which I will send to Mark as soon as I find them. I remember so many faces, but not many names so if anyone recognizes the faces please let me know, I sure would love to touch bases and see how you/they have been doing.
Best regards to all of you and God bless.

Ron and Jamie, GREAT hat. Check on the way in Monday mail. It looks good with an original bulldog hat pin and wings. Would help if I had an original CW2 bar. When we converted over I must have put them somewhere but have no idea where that was. Maybe they went with community property. Anyway, does anyone have an extra one? Mae and I are off to Disney World next week for a much needed rest. Everyone take care!

Gently! Thanks for the prompt $$$. You sent too much - the price DOES include the shipping. I'll reimburse in the form of an "adult beverage" in Phoenix. The hat maker made one sample of the visor. It got a bit scrunched so they need to work on that a bit. I'll forward one when it looks a little better than this one. Be well and have a great weekend everyone. Jamie

Flight: Well, hotel room booked and airline tickets in hand!!Yes!! Iam ready for Phoenix and all the 129th. Which is only 101 days and a wake up for Liz and I. Bro's if you can get the form dd180 form from the va. You can request personnel rosters for your time in Nam. request the last day of the month. You usually get a better roster and I usually ask for june 30 and dec. 30. or 6th month of tour and the month prior to leaving. I am getting some of what I ask for. But, I a have trying for all years. I thought if anyone else wanted to try along with me we might get the personnel rosters a little quicker. These rosters are in the St. Louis archives. Mark how are the personnel rosters coming that I sent you? I know your web man stays busy. Well we have hats now. So, I hope everyone decides to get one or more. Ron....Keep one cold for me. I drink that s... when I can't find a Prestige. Fred....Let me know when you are arriving Pheonix. I would like to be there to see the trip, stumble and fall (C.B.&D.). My contact from Adam was here last weekend. He knows the Bulldog Pub. I should have known, it's in the Red Light District. He will take me there in April so I will have pictures for June. Have a feeling I might bump into some original Bulldogs or Cobras who haven't made it home yet. Alex....Same as last year. I won't be able to sign in untill I get to Pheonix so put me on the list. Working on the flight flight plan now....Gentley, as always thanks. What a great and fitting testimonial. I signed and sent it to all on my list. Hope they all do the same. Best wishes to all for a great and safe weekend.....Cups
