WOW, it was my first reunion........it was tough a couple of times but my brothers helped me. I can say that the time i spent with all of you was time i will never forget. It is one of those things ya know ? your first kiss, yor first love, your first beer, your first kid, your first chopper ride .......right up there is your first 129th reunion.......We forget sometimes how important the bonds and friendships we make in our lives can be. I was reminded of my first day at 129th......one of many memories that i have thought of since i have returned. the reunion , for me, turned out to be the beginning of a healing process. I must admit there were times i did not want to see anymore pictures or hear another story. It was difficult. but i learned that all of you have been there and you were kind enough to share your stories and to not push but all of you gently help me start the healing process.................Today I went to My PTSD group session, I told all the guys about our reunion I can not tell you how proud I was to beable to tell them how close our group has become and how all of you helped me when i needed it. Mark, i love ya man. Gently, I now understand why you have the name...........stickman Thank you. Wink, my sides have not stop hurting yet for all the laughs we had. I did not set down here to write a novel. but i think i could.......This was my first.......it will not be my last. Thanks to all of you for making me feel like i was finally home......... clear left.............and watch for the wheels on the chinook. God Bless All Of You. Next year I hope someone will bring a shotgun so I will have someone to shoot skeet with. Roger SKEETER Strong

I have tried several times to write my expressions of the reunion. How can I put to words the emotions of meeting friends from the 129th web site for the first time, or renewing friendships with people that have made their way into your heart as family. I shall cherish my copy of Wolf's DVD! I have watched it three times already by myself. If you don't have a copy, get one! My wife and I had a wonderful time, thanks to all of you! Gently, it was great to finally meet you!

Attention flight...use caution when viewing Bill Wolfs cd.It effects the eyes in the manner of making things blurry. Some reports of slight chest pain have been recieved. That goes away after viewing stops..something about a heartache of rememberance.Jaws may ache from smiling.Do not view this cd within sight of a mirror...seeing yourself "then/now" can bring on depression.Do not let children listen to the music..they may not go back to "urban contempary" music again, wasteing all their money spent on stinkdaddys music.Flight,I applaude Bills efforts in this cd.Its an excellent piece of work, one that should be put in the 129th archives.Do yourself a favor..view it.

Evenin' Bite& Stikers! Long time-no write. I'm glad you had a Fun & safe /cold LZ reunion. Sorry I couldn't show. My youngest son Danny graduated from H.S. on saturday. He's been awarded a full 4year AFROTC scholarship to SUNY Potsdam. My oldest, Lenny Jr. is still serving in Navstar,Kuwait. He's most likely getting Sgt.E5 in a few months. He was also awarded the Army Achievement Medal. I'm sharing this with you-my brothers & sisters, because I know you'll appreciate the fact that we still have young Americans willing to serve our nation, as we did. Please keep our troops in prayer. We just lost a Special Ops Chinook in the AFghy mountains. It brings back some sorrow whenever I hear the loss of a flying machine with our youngsters onboard. I pray this thing would end,but "wars & rumors of wars" are unfortunately predicted throughout the history of mankind. Anyone remember that hippie poster :"what would happen if they called a war,.. and nobody came?" FAROUT MAN! Youz guys are the best. Keep up the good work. Stay safe out there! Clear Left..That's "Fire"to you Tripper!...tis' good to hear your keyboard. Surfs up?

At the re-union we talked about our 129er serving in Iraq, John Dillman, and prayed for his safe return. Here is his email for those of you who may want to connect with him. Vic and Larry, you wanted the email address to Glenn Nowakowski's sister here in Milwaukee so here it is, and please email her. I know she wants to hear from any of you who served with Glenn: linda.hintze@aurora.org We made $700 at the re-union thanks to the beautiful bracelets made by Melody, the rotor hub that was cleaned to perfection by that great fun-loving Frenchy, and the beautiful hard carved wooden plaque of the 129th unit patch made by one of our secret angels. I've requested that another wooden plaque be made, so Alex, you might still get one:>) Bernie Hernandez...you were the closest I've been to Tom Shaw in years. And you are a true gentleman. Thank you. I wish his wife could have met you. Perhaps next time. And Dan Hertlein, our gentle giant, our fireman..what a pleasure...I can't wait to move to Seattle:>)) and hang out with you and your friendly wife. New people this year, and more wives, Kal Bergstrom even brought his along! What a joy! We're getting so big that we have decided to have an itinerary for next year. Dan and Roger Strong both missed the group photo because we posted the sign for such to late for them to read-and for that we are very sorry, very sorry. I'm sure Gale Beard will somehow "computor" you in them though:>)) Roger...you made it, as tough as it was, you made it. God Bless you my friend. Frenchy, you were "in and out" the entire weekend....I wonder what you were up to???? LOL! Perhaps a headache:>)? Next year in Phoenix...and we'll have another raffle, so if you make "things" let me know. And Susan Alvis! What a role model you are for the rest of us! Still sassy and perky! You remain in our prayers...but you're so damn strong, you should be praying for us! Smitty, we got our dance..can't have a re-unionn without our dance:>)) Liz....you rock! After every re-union I feel closer to all of you, whether you are there or not. The stories shared include you as do some of the photo albums..so you are there. But remember, we are all getting older, and we don't know what a year may do to our family, so please join us in Phoenix in 2006. Don't let another opportunity to pass you by. With great love-Gently

Hello all you bite and strikers!!!... Got in at 5 PM and am a bit bushed.. 2700 miles total... Only hit one big rainstorm and that only lasted 100 miles..not bad..I did have a couple small rain squals, but they were short and welcome at the time.. It was hot out there. The reunion was Great again and I was sorry to not see a couple of people I was hoping to see.. Oh well.. As long as we all hope to live long lives and attend one of these reunions some day, I find it hard to understand what keeps some of us from these yearly get-togethers. I hope you will reconsider as you were missed!!.. I know I will spend the next year looking foreward seeing everyone in Phoenix.. Well.... enough of that.. Take care.. I am going to hit the sack... We were both touched by the kindness, that went well beyond the norms, extended our way.Barry Winkler...your gentleness and forethought is without depths, you touched our hearts. The foot stool is/was a masterpiece as well as the thoughts behind it.It was great to meet some new folks.Lou...we missed you.Animal..I had some window stickers made, using your art from last year.Forgive me for not asking first,it was a last minute opportunity I took advantage of...my "soon to be son in law" had access to a graphics machine.( the helicopter landing with 129th logo) It was great seeing the nose art in the old pics you guys brought.Tiger Wagon, here come the judge, keep on trucking, cobra as well as others. Next year is Phoenix. The following year,2007,as I understand it,will be on the south east coast.I heard several cities discussed, most between Washington DC, south to Charlestown SC.

Back on 11 Jun Joe Mattinen requested graphics of the 129th Patch in order to etch a glass for a friend. Well, I sent him the graphics of the patch and asked him to make make me a couple of 'Rock Glasses' to sip my nightly quota of good Bourbon in. Well, I received them today and I was utterly impressed with the detail and depth of the etching. If all you "Hiss & Piss'ers" saw them you couldn't resist getting one or two or three. They are utterly awesome(I hate that word but appropriate)! If you are interested you can contact him at joe_2224@yahoo.com. These galss are a "MUST HAVE", IMHO!!!!! They are right up there with the Pins, Patcher, Stickers, T-shirts and Hats.

Smitty, I went through pretty much the same thing, I never had VD, but, when things started burning, I got scared and went over the hill, and got told the same! Trouble is, I got drunk, sick, nearly died while drinking whiskey when I was a kid, I never got over gagging at the smell of it! Vodka and Rum seemed to work just as well,though......We're officially into summer up here, now, as soon as things dry out, maybe the humidity will drop a bit! Our state Junior Olympics are this weekend. I'm not officially coaching a team, just spending time with a dozen pitchers on five diffrent teams.... doing hitting, bunting, slapping, clinics. Running myself ragged, and loving it!!! LOL...AYUH, coastal Maine is a pretty bike ride in the summer :>)) As long as you don't go near route 1 on the weekend!!!!! I always like to fly over to Bar Harbor, and follow the coast back to Brunswick before turning away from the class C airspace around Portland, It's ALWAYS pretty!! Rocky, rugged...kinda like flying north of Qui Nhon. What was the name of the village up there? Duc Pho?

I remember bringing along the old can of Raid to the outhouse every day... the easy fix for crab lice. Worked every time it was tried. Other "home" remedies included JP-4 applied directly to the affected area. One side effect was a nasty rash. The powder the medics gave you didn't work very well, as I recall.

well, i don't know if you remember the Dispensary over the hill, But i Was having some burning on Urination so i went over & got in the line & there were a number of guys rolling penicillin needles between there hands to warm it up so it didn't hurt so bad. Well, at any rate the medic said my symptoms didn't sound right. Long & short of it was i had a yeast type urinary tract infection & not VD. The Flight Surgeon asked " how much beer do you drink & I said A lot" He said to take the Tetracycline & if I had to drink, Drink Whiskey. Talk about A kid in a candy store--- a direct ok from the flight Surgeon to drink Whiskey. Never did disobey that one.>>>True Story>>Smitty

I'll sure miss all of you guys though. Kim, I guess you're right that if we get some VD or something we'll know where to go to find some drugs to get rid of it. Damn Spammers anyway. I hope it dry's out for you in Maine. I know you guys have gotten a lot of rain this year. I was up there in Bar Harbor in 2000 on a bike ride, and that was a nice year. Hope everyone is doing ok.... Well Kim,...Nam and STD`s kinda went "hand and hand" back in the day. Remember the "the island" they would send you to, if you caught the "bad stuff".....LOL......Are you doing any ASA or USSSA Tournament`s this year? Columbus Parks and Recreation always sponsors a July tournament....... age 8 thru 12 are the Juniors, 13 thru 16 are the Intermedates and Seniors 16 thru 18..maybe 19......I use to work that every summer, about 32 hours of "double-time".......They got a "over 50" softball league here in Summit and they are running ads for players. I might break out my glove, and play some ball this summer.......a MAJOR comeback......"Have Glove, Will Travel"........

Robbie, at least we know who to contact if we contract a STD!! LOL It's finally turned to summer here in Maine, it'd be nice to have a couple weeks of sun, just to dry things out a bit. It's Junior Olympic time up here, and coaching takes quie a bit of my time. Maybe one year I'll take the time off to attend a reunion again.......for now, I'll have to be satisfied reading the posts about what I've missed

This Letter of Apology was written by Lieutenant General Chuck Pitman, US Marine Corps, Retired: "For good and ill," the Iraqi prisoner abuse mess will remain an issue. On the one hand, right thinking Americans will abhor the stupidity of the actions while on the other hand, political glee will take control and fashion this minor event into some modern day massacre. I humbly offer my opinion here: I am sorry that the last seven times we Americans took up arms and sacrificed the blood of our youth, it was in the defense of Muslims (Bosnia, Kosovo, Gulf War 1, Kuwait, etc.). I am sorry that no such call for an apology upon the extremists came after 9/11. I am sorry that all of the murderers on 9/11 were Islamic Arabs. I am sorry that most Arabs and Muslims have to live in squalor under savage dictatorships. I am sorry that their leaders squander their wealth. I am sorry that their governments breed hate for the US in their religious schools, mosques, and government-controlled media. I am sorry that Yassar Arafat was kicked out of every Arab country and high-jacked the Palestinian "cause." I am sorry that no other Arab country will take in or offer more than a token amount of financial help to those same Palestinians. I am sorry that the USA has to step in and be the biggest financial supporter of poverty stricken Arabs while the insanely wealthy Arabs blame the USA for all their problems. I am sorry that our own left wing, our media, and our own brainwashed masses do not understand any of this (from the misleading vocal elements of our society, like radical professors, CNN and the NY TIMES). I am sorry the United Nations scammed the poor people of Iraq out of the "food for oil" money so they could get rich while the common folk suffered. I am sorry that some Arab governments pay the families of homicide bombers upon their death. I am sorry that those same bombers are brainwashed thinking they will receive 72 virgins in "paradise." I am sorry that the homicide bombers think pregnant women, babies, children, the elderly and other noncombatant civilians are legitimate targets. I am sorry that our troops die to free more Arabs from the gang rape rooms and the filling of mass graves of dissidents of their own making. I am sorry that Muslim extremists have killed more Arabs than any other group. I am sorry that foreign trained terrorists are trying to seize control of Iraq and return it to a terrorist state. I am sorry we don't drop a few dozen Daisy cutters on Fallujah. I am sorry every time terrorists hide they find a convenient "Holy Site." I am sorry they didn't apologize for driving two jets into the World Trade Center that collapsed and severely damaged Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church - one of our Holy Sites. I am sorry they didn't apologize for flight 93 and 175, the USS Cole, the embassy bombings, the murders and beheadings of Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl, etc....etc! I am sorry Michael Moore is American; he could feed a medium sized village in Africa. America will get past this latest absurdity. We will punish those responsible because that is what we do. We hang out our dirty laundry for the entire world to see. We move on. That's one of the reasons we are hated so much. We don't hide this stuff like all those Arab countries that are now demanding an apology. Deep down inside, when most Americans saw this reported in the news, we were like - so what? We lost hundreds and made fun of a few prisoners. Sure , it was wrong, sure, it dramatically hurts our cause, but until captured we were trying to kill these same prisoners. Now we're supposed to wring our hands because a few were humiliated? Our compassion is tempered with the vivid memories of our own people killed, mutilated and burnt amongst a joyous crowd of celebrating Fallujahans. If you want an apology from this American, you're going to have a long wait! You have a better chance of finding those seventy-two virgins. Chuck Pitman Lieutenant General US Marine Corps (Retired) Semper Fi,,,,,,,,,,,I just passed this along without comment, alvis

This is for Gently........Judith, I was over in NYC, Saturday and went to the Union Square area of NYC and stopped by Virgin Records store. I went to the R+B section to check out some new music. Well on their sound system, they had this "ass kicking groove" of funk music playing. So I ask who was playing on the system......They told me the "Groove Hogs", so I ask to see the CD cover.....And "low and behold" they are from Madison and Branch, WI...........Damn, they are "killer" funk music band, the best I`ve heard in a while. I bought their CD,"Blue Rhythms and White Lies"........And I`m gonna order a couple more from their web-site. Have you seen these guys LIVE?......I would bet their "live show" is really good.......

The very best of wishes to my friend Gently on her birthday. Seems like the medal for "dust off" folks has passed its first hurdle. Now it just has to get passed one more time in legistlature, and it will be "fact". It goes back to include the years ..cant remember...somewhere like 1960, or so. They can contact V.A. to get the award upgrade when/if it gets passed and made into law.I wonder if there shouldnt be a special mark on crewmens wings to say if they had their cherries broken?Guess it would be to hard to prove now. ......I started driving Mom to work after Pop passed, but would still lite her drive around town to the store and the hairdressers. But it started to worry me how an accident only takes 1 second to happen and then how bad would we all feel if somebody got hurt whenj it could of been prevented...........thanks for the encouragement Gale. Mom is so forgetful that we go through the same ordeal of her not having her keys every day. This has only been 2 years............I stoped taking Zoloft about a month ago because I didn't like the way it made me not give a flyin' crap about anything. I couldn't even cry any more. Needless to say with this thing with mom, I'm back on it......on top of that, am strugglin' with liquor control about paper work for the transfer of the permit into Pop-A-Top's new owner's name. reminds me of you guys strugglin' with the VA. Mark, I've been through exactly what you are going through. My Sister & I let Mom drive a little too long. Normally she would just go to the grocery and back...no problem. One day she just kept going North.........................ALL THE WAY TO "@#&**%#@@*" CHICAGO!! North of Chicago and almost into Wisconsin. Was missing for about 48 hours and was stopped by the cops going 30mph on a major 4-lane.Had to have the car hauled back, etc. Do what you gotta do brother. Gale

Hey Melody. BRAC stands for Base Realignment and Closure. There are activities going on to keep Canon AFB. It will take a large community and congressional effort to get it removed from the BRAC list. In the past 85% of the installations selected were closed or realigned. All we can do is support our troups and hope the senators, congressmen, and govenor can persuade them that this installation is of greater value if left operating. Take care and God Bless.

It really is to bad with those idiots posting the drug links. Has any thought been giving to putting a forum on here? I looked it up a bit. I found one that would be 10 bucks a month. I'd be willing to donate money for it if its ever decided to be done...................Its been hot here. They decided to close Cannon Air Force Base in Clovis, NM. Not to far from here and the city of Amarillo is trying to help them out. They put together something called BRAC(not sure what it stands for) but its fighting closing it. Amarillo went through the same thing back in the 60's so I hope they win the fight. Wish I could make it down to San Antonio. Praying you all have a safe travels and a great time.

I may be out of touch for a while ........... it depends on if I can keep my cool or not. I have installed 2 new hard drives in this stupid thing and it still won't work right. I put in a CD to install a program and it runs till about 96% and locks up and I have to re-boot to get it to un-lock. I go to a site and see a pic I would like and try to download it ......... it locks up. same thing if I try to copy and save a document. the only way I get here is reboot, go on-line, come straight here. this thing is driving me nuts, yeah I know it's a short drive. LOL. latest news on Donna ........ had to take her back to DR. today bit her lip while eating last night and it was still bleeding at 2:00 this afternoon. did a blood work up and her cumaden (sp) level is 8.5 ...... should be 2.0 -2.5 so almost any break in the skin will cause her to bleed for a while. we are working on getting it down with out going back to the hospital. but DR didn't rule that out yet. If Watergate Happened Now...... With the GOP controlling Congress, there'd be no Watergate hearings........ From a distance, Watergate seems like a partisan affair. But that's because we tend to look at it nowadays through red- and blue-tinted glasses. In truth, President Nixon was forced to resign in 1974 by Republicans in Congress like Barry Goldwater, who realized from the so-called smoking-gun tape that he was a crook. This was after the Supreme Court—led by a Nixon appointee—unanimously ruled against him in the tapes case. But imagine if Nixon were president in this era. After he completed his successful second term, I'd have to write a retrospective column like this: President Nixon left office in 2005 having proved me and the other "nattering nabobs of negativism" wrong. We thought that his administration was sleazy but we were never able to nail him. Those of us who hoped it would end differently knew we were in trouble when former Nixon media adviser Roger Ailes banned the word "Watergate" from Fox News's coverage and went with the logo "Assault on the Presidency" instead. By that time, the American people figured both sides were just spinning, and a tie always goes to the incumbent.

Jack Newton, the photo that I have posted of you was taken sometime between May and October of 1968. Great to see you post on the web site. I hope to see you again some day. Do you remember the evening that I came up to get you to do sign off on one of the aircraft that was in for unscheduled maintenance. When whe pulled up to the flight line maintenance tent there was a spray can of paint on the table in the middle of the tent and flames were shooting out of the top! I recall the wide eyes of Anderson reflecting the light as he was looking aroung the edge of the conex container that made a wall aroung the tent. I don't recall how you put the small fire out. The situation was as follows. We had been working that night in the tent and saw motion outside near the perimeter of the light shinnig from the 100 watt bare bulb hanging down in the center of the tent. It turned out to be some lage frogs comming after the insects attracted to the light. We decided to help the frogs by placing them on top of the table and watched them go to work. Then the action became to slow so we started using a spay can of paint igniting the spray and torching the bugs which fell in front of the frogs. It was entertaining to watch the frogs eat the bugs...(not much elese goes on at night for entertainment). Obviously when I came to get you, the torch lighting continued. The cap must have come off causing a steady stream of flames. I don't think anyone said to you what the heck was going on.

Just an injection of a little humor that the aircrews among us can really appreciate: A minister was seated next to an Army pilot on a flight. After the plane was airborne, drink orders were taken. The Army pilot asked for a whiskey and soda, which the flight attendant brought and placed before him. The flight attendant then asked the minister if he would like a drink. He replied in disgust, "I'd rather be savagely groped by brazen harlots than let liquor touch my lips." The Army pilot then handed his drink back to the flight attendant and said, "Me, too. I didn't know we had a choice."

been a rough week, got Donna home from the hospital monday ( a week stay this time ) she had a blood clot in the artery that supplies the right leg. (it is an artifical artery) a week ago on monday we went to have an ultrasound on it just so the DR could see what was going on with it before he saw her and it was so blocked they sent us straight to the hospital. within 20 minutes of getting to the E room she was in surgery. they did 3 angioplasties (sp) over the next 24 hours to get blood flowing to her right leg. looks like they did a great job this time. the tingling is gone and her foot is nice and pink and warm. now to see if this posts I think I finally got this puter fixed. Quite a stirring commentary....makes me wonder though, why are we so willing to have another generation go to war, based on lies and hyperbole? Are we so caught up in this that we can't see what it (our own experiences) has done to us? The names on the wall, the fights with the VA in order to get compensated for service connected disabilities?... I feel like I'm one of the lucky one's, managed to pretty much put it behind me, raised some pretty good kids,a bunch of grandkids, got a pasttime that isn't hazzardous to my health, managed to find a job that pays the bills........

Very moving post Alvis, I especially appreciate the auther's mention of everyone at the wall examining their past and walking away humbled. I have never had the opportunity to visit the memorial, but it is one of the things I intend to do before I die. I wonder if Jane has ever visited the wall? She seems to have examined her past actions, and she seems to be more humble than she was 30 years ago. I won't ever forget what she did during the war, but I believe her apology to veterans is sincere, and I for one accept it.......................With Respect, Greg

The following was written by the man who spit tabacco juice on jane fonda Talking to a Wall Talking to some people is like talking to a wall: a shiny black wall with names carved into it. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington is a black granite wall engraved with the names of each of the 58,245 U.S. servicemen who were killed in Vietnam from October, 1957 to May, 1975. Each of the 140 granite slabs is polished to a mirror finish so that, as visitors look into the engraved names, they will see the reflection of themselves. The names of the dead are not organized by rank or alphabet. They are listed in chronological order of their deaths. Each time I have gone to The Wall. I have been struck by the quiet reverence shown by virtually every visitor. Many people are visibly shaken as they approach for the first time. Time does not exist there. The collective soul of America, scarred, bloodied, broken, bruised, is bared at The Wall. The raw nerves, the sinew, the marrow of America stands exposed in the reflection of each of us. Whether they want to or not, each visitor is forced to examine himself, his life, his accomplishments, his soul. And each walks away humbled. An aging mother searches that vast sea of names, hoping to find her lost son, yet also hoping that he is not there, that this whole thing was just a mistake and her little boy will soon come home. She scans the lines of names, hopefully, but frightened. Then, there he is. A chill goes through every nerve, every muscle, every fiber of her soul. She reaches out to her child and he reaches back to her. The act of touching his name is involuntary, as pre-ordained as the turning of the earth. So are the tears. At the base of his panel she sometimes leaves a flower, sometimes a flag, sometimes a letter to him. But always, always, she leaves a mother's tears. A middle-aged man sits on a bench a hundred yards from The Wall, studying it, staring through it. He is aware of the other people standing in front of the long black memory, but that is not what he sees. He is looking through the reflection of The Wall many miles, many years, away. He is young again and with his buddies. So many memories wash over him all at the same time that he can only look at each one fleetingly before moving on to the next. Maybe a smile about that stupid prank they pulled. The way they helped each other through the tough times. The last time he saw his buddy. He, too, will touch the name of each of his buddies, and they will reach out of The Wall to touch him yet again. He, too, will leave something at the base of The Wall; a beer, a medal, a picture. Sometimes he will be able to leave a lifetime of guilt. But always, always, a warrior's tears. Another Mom searches The Wall for the name of a man she never knew. Her children, now grown, look for their Grandfather. As they each touch his name, the kids finally start to understand why their Mom had to come here. They read the POW bracelets and wonder about the medals and lighters and smokes and letters to buddies and sons and fathers. They begin to understand about all those old guys staring into The Wall with tears in their eyes. The old guys hope the kids will never have to fully understand that there are always, always, a daughter's tears. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial lists the names of the dead, but war memorials are not built for the dead. They are built for the living. It is appropriate that the Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a wall : black, stark, simple yet complex, painful yet cathartic; a wall that forces us to stop and reflect. what we see in The Wall is ourselves. Whether we see survivor's guilt, or a broken heart, or pride, we are looking at the best of America. When we talk to the memory of a son, or a Dad, or a buddy, we are speaking absolute truth. When we reach out to touch The Wall, The Wall reaches out and touches us. when we look deep into The Wall we are looking at heroes who have given everything. We are looking at the soul of America. Just as we each leave something at The Wall, The Wall leaves something with each of us. At the base of The Wall we each leave a little bit of guilt. The Wall leaves us with a reflection of ourselves, and always, always, a nation's tears. ......

Hi ya Gale I would love to make the reunion but the time schedule is short for me. Haven't been on this net for over a year and just didn't see notice about the reunion until it was too late. I will try to get there, but can't promise. Yes you are right I did replace SP6 Guthering. He was always smoking a cigar and when Crew chiefs called him to look at their bird, he would always look at his watch and say "it's flyable" without even crawling on the bird. Sorry I don't remember names too good but I'm sure I would know you guys bye sight. Had a great time in the 129th and think about the unit, aircraft and personnel a lot. Will never forget. Gale: Remember Atlanta!!! unless reservations are made somewhere large groups won't make it in together. Thought I would remind everyone that. We ended up splitting up to find a place to eat in Atlanta. I will post places to eat at the reunion. A guy from work whom families lives there and Liz has been to San Antonio on business quite afew times in the last year. Also if we have food in the 129th room the hotel has to provide it. The hotel makes their money on the food we have at the reunions. Welcome Home Newton!! We be good to see everyone in about 2 1/2 weeks. Liz and I are flying to Brunswick,GA for my son's wedding on June the 9th. Was hopint to get to Savanhna for the a day. Depends on our schedule. Always a Brother Alex

Errrr Gently, most of us agreed to have our own pizza party on Friday. There's a free shuttle from the hotel to the "River walk" & Alamo. I figured if we go down as a group,(kinda like we did in Atlanta) we could find a pizza place and get back early enuff for other things. Any other suggestions are welcome. I thought that was nice in Atlanta until we found out that most of the restaurants were closed and lost some of the gang. We had to wait a long time, but, finally got to eat. Lookin' forward to it and seeing everyone. Clear, Gale

Olie North has nothing on you guys! Thank you for sharing your stories on Vietnam, it helps your supporters, like myself, understand alot more. Please continue to share, but only if you'll be OK after you do. None of us want you to "go back." Mark, may we have the ceremony for our fallen 129ers on Friday evening at the re-union rather than Saturday before the banquet? And is our pizza party on? Lou, have you changed your mind? We have three items to bid on: Mel's beautiful bracelets, the excellent 129th carved wooden plaque with the unit patch on it, and the precious Rotor hub(Smitty has a $75 bid in on that already). I'm sorry I can't put pictures on the web for all of you to see so that those of you not attending the re-uinon could see what these items look like and be part of the bidding. But you should trust me that they are all "perfect," especially because 129er and 129th supporters hands either made them or preparted them. So if you want in, just give me a high bid and I'll bid it for you at the re-union. I wish you were all going, everyone of you. I look forward to meeting those of you I have not met, and laughing and hugging with those I have. Loving ya-Gently
