Hi gang. Talked to Ray on Instant Messenger yesterday and am happy to say that things are sounding a lot better for him, at least he is feeling a lot better. He still has a lot more things that need fixing but at least it sounds like the train is back on track. Now, not too long ago there were a number of us that were using the "instant messenger" and it was working pretty well for near "real time" conversations. It looks like Ray and I are the only ones still doing it and I believe Ray is quite happy with the results of it. If we can do it I'd have to say most of us can do it too, and Ray, along with myself, would sure like to see and hear the rest of you on with us. It isn't hard at all, all you need is to download "Windows Instant Messenger" and install it. Of course, a DSL or Cable - high speed internet connection is needed, but ATT and othere have that available for under $15 a month. So, lets get some more of us checking out the wonders available on this internet that has brought us together in the first place. Well, enough of that except, if I can be of any help, just give me a bump.. Happy New Year to everyone!! Hope to be talking to you soon.. Think Saint Louis in 08... Love and Brotherhood.. Kal...>>>

Ray, glad to hear you are doing better. I know the VA is slow and like they said they are not insurance, but a benifit. I have some bills back from June that they are just now paying on. I know I don't agree with a $841 bill just for an ER room. I got so upset with the hospital on the phone, my wife got on and told them I was nuts and not to call. They haven't so far. If I could only get these crokes they call lawyers to go away. The main thing is to get care you need and to hell with the rest. All be safe on New Years Eve!

Godmorning 129th Family!! Hope everyone had a safe Christmas and will have a safe New Years. Have a few more days off before going back to work to finish off 2007. WE have lost alot of Brothers and family members this year. but, on the same token Ray's health and Others of the 129th family are improving. Also, our surprise with Phil and Simon and their wives in Orlando. Heres hoping 2008 will be alot better year and focus on getting as many 129th Brothers and sisters to St. Louis. Every year we increase in size. We are not getting any younger. So, it's important together. You never know when our last flight is coming. I ain't much on mircles. But, when Charlie Rains gave me Mark Jackson's phone number years ago. I never expected to find and meet so mant of my 129th Brothers. Thats why it's so important to me to get you and your family to these reunions. Always A Brother!!

Gary, will do. Keep in mind, I have no route. My next load can go anywhere in the lower 48.I do try and stop in Memphis when going thru that area. A hot meal, fuel, and a succured place to rest goes a long way for "one stop"..and It gives me a chance to turn in my log book as well as my "bills of laden". We do alot of hauling out of South Haven and into the Sears DC. in Olive Branch. The good thing about the Sears run in that I pick up kinda close to Marks place in Ohio, or pass close to there on my way out of state. Merry xmas all.OH, i continue to write " 129th AHC Nam" on the back doors in the dirt.So far, no response.I have also "taped" our 129th patch to the driver "wing window" (you remember those dont you?)of my truck.

Flight, Debbie & I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and I hope that Santa is good to each & every one of you! My Vietnam Christmas was in 1967 at An Son. As I recall most of us hid our feelings with booze or "somethin'" if we weren't working. Beer was my crutch as we all had the same thoughts going thru our minds...........................of home. A few guys opening packages from family, a couple guys talking privately in a corner, another guy passed out from drinking orange Kool-aid & Vodka, some going to the EM Club or the mess hall. It was a pretty solemn day as guys laid on their bunks thinking of home. I pray that you all are with family today and if not, you still have the 129th family......call any of us......call me. I feel so fortunate to belong to this family I look forward to meeting some newbies at LZ St Louis. Thanks Mark & thanks to Alex for all that you've done! With love & brotherhood, Gale Beard

All of our family have changed in the last 45 years. We have hopefully learn from our mistakes and mellowed a lot. Gave enough praise. Lived enough of a rich life. Loved enough. Had enough peace. Gave enough in brotherhood. Forgave enough. And in my world. Had just enough of to much. Thank all of you for you support, caring, and fellowship. Have a blessed Holidays See ya in the funny papers. Fred Alvis was good talking to you yesterday. Hope you had a safe trip home from West Memphis, Arkansas. Gary Woodard your card you gave me had your cell phone number. Is that the correct one for your personal use? I need to have it so, when Fred comes through we all might be able to meet some where. Truman good to see you post.It seems like yesterday that for some of us we were getting ready for the 129th's first christmas in Vietnam 1965. And I was there for Christmas 1967 also. I hope we can get the word out early about the ST. Louis reunion. Joe Nolich and Glenn Pearmain said they would be there. I am trying to find and get as many of the 65-66 group there. A few have heard me state. That when I rejioned the 129th in 67 at Lane field. It was like being in a r&R center. Compared to our time of 1965 & 1966. But, the 129th left it's mark in Vietnam and the gunts we supported. At the VA Hostial Friday I Welcomed Home a Vet from the 101ST. He started traring up when he found out that I served with 129th in 65-66. One of our slicks evaced him from a hot lz. He has been confined to wheelchair since 66. He told me that at the 101st reunion this year he was going to tell his Brothers that he met someone from the 129th. The 129th orignally came from Ft. campbell with the 101st in 1965. Small World out there. Have A Safe Christmas. Always A Brother!!

CHRISTMAS, we all spent at least one christmas in veitnam, for some ,more. our thoughts where of home, family, xmas dinner turkey and the thought of who was going to get the wish bone.we all longed for home and family an wondering why we where in veitnam when we should be home with family and friends. with christmas eve here, with a few beers under our belt, we lay our heads to our pillows and prayed that this was all a dream an we woke,in the morning, christmas morning,we would look around finding ourselves in our bed at home and thinking, oh what a nightmare. but alass it wasn"t a dream. now almost forty years later i look back on though days and think, that was one of the best christmas ever, because what i didn't realize was that i was with family. so too my family i say MERRY CHRISTMAS too all. wink3/69-10/70

Flight, I've left information with a contact of Les Cauchi ( of Johnny Maestro/The Brooklyn Bridge) about the LZ St Louis reunion. It seems that Les was drafted in 1966, left the band (which was probably the "The Crests" or the "Del Satins" at that time) and served with the 129th in 67. His name is listed in the 67 roster. Does anyone remember serving with him or happen to know him from the East coast area? Sounds like The Brooklyn Bridge is still active in the NJ area and Les is still a singer with them. Gale

Hello 129th family........Long time no been here. Read every day but time is not on my side right now. Ray, all that sounds wonderful. I am glad you are felling much better. What a year for the 129th heh. Ups and downs but we endure. My brother is improving everyday. Thanks for your prayers. We now have him is a local Nursing Home to continue with OT and nutrition. Should be able to get out of there the 1st of the year and then he talks as if he is headed out west where his daughter lives. He wanted to stay with Mum but I advised him that would not be a good idea. They would drive each other nuttier and possibly strangle each other in a day. More like an hour. In between Christmas and the new Year we will be headed to Olatha KS to spend time with Dee's sister and her family for the holidays..Ya know, with a flight to England and one to Hong Kong this year, I just might be ready for the BIG ONE to the Mountain over in Vietnam near Lane where parts of the "257" still lay. Last I heard from Phil in England is that he was in Singapore for a spell on business and then he and Jo were head for Florida to hop a boat for a Caribbean cruise. Don't know if the are back home or not yet. What a guy. If ya wanna see some photos and info on his company, The SUBMARINE MANUFACTURING & PRODUCTS LTD. go to < www.smp-ltd.co.uk >. Pretty cool place and they do lots of stuff. But ya know, being one that has spent some time with him, and those of you who met them in Orlando, he couldn't be more of a down to earth , good ole' boy. What a brother to be in the 129th family. I have made contact with the web master and will have some new addresses up that have been sent my way and changes in the CONTACTS section..RICK ENGLAND??? you out there brother????.............take care all and have a safe and Blessed Holidays..............always a brother..................

First off to you all seasons greetings and all that from the UK. Finally getting sorted for the holidays over here. There will always be that last minute present buying. Same every year but we never learn, it's not as though we don't know it's coming!! To answer your question Ken there are still issues with DVD's though most computers should be able to play them. As for a DVD machine it needs to be an 'all regions' machine as opposed to Region 1, Region 2 etc....if it is region specific then a region 1 dvd won't play on a region 2 machine and vice versa. But as the name implies 'all region' machines are fine. Good to see Ray is getting the help he needs. Gently good to see you're ok with the help of your nursing assistant Joe. 509 tucked up in the hangar for the winter. Best place for her with the weather we've been having recently. Take care and have a good Christmas, we'll thinking of you as we raise our glasses. Simon, Nina and Bradley.

Been a long time since i've been here. Things at home have been a little rough. My grandpa failed a driving test so he lost his license. I have been the main target of his anger with that but I can handle it. I just wish it didn't have to be so humiliating for him. I know it HAD to happen but alas its still painful to watch. He has also been remembering the "old" days allot more. Esp the WWII days. Nightmares and such.____I would like to donate a little bit but not sure of where to send it too. If there are any newer people on the site I am looking for infor on my Uncle Olen Wayne Garrett. Thanks!

Good evening Flight, I wanted to change the subject a bit by bringing up Kokomo 1st. They have changed the rules again and I e-mailed Ron about it and waiting to hear back. If we can get four sites together is it good for everyone. Second quick question to anyone that is up on England. Does a DVD made here work in a DVD player over there? Our English lady got mail from Denon EX32 8DL England, from her family there. I wanted to tape her here and make a DVD to send to her family. I knew there were a lot of issues back in the 80s with VHS tapes, so not sure now. To close again I hope that everyone who needs help is getting the best care possible. I had to make 3 trips to the VA last week for test, now have to wait till March for my next appt. Somehow that seems a little bit too long to me. To all my brothers, take care.

One of the most modest guys I ever met. Dan had gone to college with my friend Pat, and stopped in to visit with Pat. Sat. 12/15/07 Just got off the phone with Ray. He sounded very good and was in good spirits. He will retake his stress test on Monday and by all indications he will pass it with flying colors. The replacement stint looks like it was just what he needed and his communication has also improved greatly. Joe has been like Nurse Krachet to me. Tough as Nails and unrelenting in my knee recovery physical therapy. However my knee recovery is well ahaed of schedule. Perhaps his Drill Sergant style of care has forced me to toughen-up. I am not sure how he is going to explain his two black eyes to his employess on Monday, but I am sure he will say that they are old War injuries that just reappear sometime. Our very, very best to you all. You are all in our daily thoughts and Prayers. With Peace & Love, Gently and Joe.

In 1991, after a great deal of debate, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame recognized this as the first Rock and Roll song ever recorded. Turner was in jail at the time for cocaine possession, so his daughter accepted the award. This is about a car. The Oldsmobile "Rocket 88" just came out and was the fastest car on the road at the time. It was advertised as having a V-8 "Rocket" engine. This was produced by Sam Phillips, who formed Sun Records in 1954. Phillips discovered Elvis in 1955. Jackie Brenston, who was a member of Ike Turner's Rhythm Kings, sang lead. The single was credited to "Jackie Brenston and His Delta Cats" because Phillips wanted to release a different record credited to Turner. This was a #1 R&B hit. There were no rock charts at the time. Turner and his band were playing black clubs in the American South when B.B. King set up a recording session for them in Memphis with Phillips. They wrote most of this on the way to the session. On the drive to the session, their amplifier fell out of the car and broke the woofer. Turner shoved paper in it at the studio to cover the problem, which ended up providing a more distinct sound. Brenston was credited with writing this, although he admitted he stole the idea from a 1947 song called "Cadillac Boogie." General Motors gave Brenston a Rocket 88 to thank him for the publicity this generated for the car. Brenston did not handle success well. He quickly spent the money he made from this, became an alcoholic, went broke, and died in 1979. Turner played piano on this. It was a huge influence on Little Richard, who used the piano intro on his 1958 hit, "Good Golly Miss Molly." There were other songs recorded before this that could be considered Rock and Roll, but this was unique in that it appealed to a white audience. Turner recorded a new version of this in 2000.

I know the feeling you are having. I go once a month for canceling. I was really bitter for alot of years and I still am to a point. If you have family you should concert on your relationship with them and let the love for them pour out from your heart. That has been my only saviuor. The man I work for has me living in Hell and He don't care about anybody but himself. I still haven't gotten the VA to do anything for me yet. I have to prove everything I did while in the service. I know as we get older we loose the buddies and friends we have. For some it is a releif for they are in a better place and are finly at rest with themselves. So day we will all be together again in a more peaceful place. I would like to wish everyone of my brothers and sisters in arms a Happy Holiday season and plaese take care and return after the hoildays. We all still need one another. God Bless all. James Ellis

Art, I wanted to say I can understand your anger and how it seems that medications only go so far. I saw my shrink just over a week ago because I was under so much stress I couldn't think or see straight. For so many years after Nam I just didn't feel anything but the good part is there was no anger. Sense 9/11 my PTSD and anger has gotten so bad. It is mostly directed at the system that would let people with cancer about strave or die before getting help. As many things as I have wrong I see so many others who suffer worse. I am surprised that the doctors & lawyers haven't drove more of us nuts. So Art I do understand how hard it is, but please hang in there along with the rest of my brothers here.

Being an avid Hawaii Warrior football fan, I'm really excited to see them go undefeated and land a berth in the Sugar Bowl. I understand reservations about them playing for a championship; Their schedule is just too weak. Having said this, It's hard to get good teams to play them. Michigan state paid $250,000 to get out of playing them this year. Teams don't like to travel thousands of miles to play, even though all Hawaii's road games entail at least 2500 miles travel for them. They've beaten everyone they've faced, and I predict one more win against a great Georgia team. If you're a fan of football, don't miss this game. Hawaii doesn't know how to win without putting on a nail biter. "Imua Ke Koa", Greg

Now you might get a "top 4" play-off, No.1 plays No.4 in a bowl, and No.2 plays No. 3 and the winner`s play for the NCAA Championship.....The "one plus" type play-off........Pac 10 and Big 10 hate the BSC stuff. Now as far as Ohio State......damn right they should be playing for NCAA Championship and this year they WILL beat LSU......BTW.... U of Florida`s head coach is from Ohio......All that great southern football, comes from a "population shift" from the Union labor rust belt factories, to "new south" work force. All those southern folk , who came north to work in the factories. Their kids grew up and went to college.....they moved back south for "white collar" jobs.. And now their kids are growing up in the south and staying there for college. Who wants to play football in the north in November and December. Plus I don`t like going 50 days between a football game( Bowl games)......that`s a whole new season almost....Play the BCS in friggin early December. That cost Ohio State last year.

For those of you who cannot afford to send anything...don't worry about it:>)) Getting your meds, food etc., is more important, we know that. And please do not for one second feel ashamed about it....that's not what this brothetrhood is about. I know some of you send money you cannot afford to part with....please don't do it this year! When I open those envelopes with 5 or 10 dollars in them it breaks my heart for I know you really need it yourself(And I KNOW who you are!). So please, not this year. Just 2-3" of snow here & should have a white Christmas. Daughter coming from Laramie in 4 days with minimal Driving Experience. Fred , here is e mail westwang@bresnan.net . Let me say this about football, appalachian state beat the Michigan Wolverines which proves " on any give day". The 1x beaten Buckeyes & 1x Beaten LSU will have a great "National Chamionship". The Undeafeated Hawaii Rainbow warriors were thrown a bone ( the Sugar bowl). They should be playing for the title & on top of that Colt Brennan should have had the Heisman. The BCS system is a sham & a black eye on the NCAA, There must be a playoff system.>>>>>> respects to all>>> Smitty

Also, wanted to add.. I talked to Ray, on instant messenger, the day before he was admitted to the hospital and am amazed at how the VA had been giving him the runaround.. It had taken for him to have real bad chest pains and it sounds like a bad heart condition for someone to come to the conclusion that he has major problems and needs to be admitted and further tests done. He has been trying to tell them for a long time and lets hope it gets looked into now. I just hope that he and Gail have been documenting all the crap that they have put him thru so as to have something to base a case on if it comes to that.. I hear of malpractice and from what I have heard on this on it is a classic case.. Take care all.. B Cn Ya.. Kal...>>>

The bids are coming in for the 129th Wall Plaque! I have several so we'll let them all go at the price of the highest bidder, 2nd, etc. Right now the highest bid is $75. Remember...all the funds raised go to getting some of you who need help getting to the re-union in June, to the re-union. We also use the money throughout the year to confidentailly help any of you who are in need of some financial help. You can also, should you desire and are able to, start sending your donations to the Christmas Fund now. I am the only one who knows who donates and who doesn't and how much is given. If you can give...do. If you can't, well perhaps it would be our honor to help you. I do not share the donated amounts with anyone, so please do not be embarrased if you can't give.... It's only between you and I. Donations can be sent to me: Judith Singer(Gently) 2228 N. 115th Street Wauwatosa WI 53226 and made out to "the 129th" The 129th wall plaque is very cool!!! You would all be proud to have it hanging in your home. So let's get that bidding going for crying out loud! L-Gently

Greetings All!!! Fred A. where in the states are you??? I am keeping my trucking travels limited to the State of Florida, until after my hospital stay. Speaking of which, on 11/17 I was stuck in traffic in the Atlanta area when strange sensation came over me. Here I am middle lane and can't go any where. I placed a call to VA triage in Florida, descibed the problem, they were able to determine that it was my pacemaker doing a reset, and no I wasn't having a heartattack, cuz it is physically impossible for someone with a pacemaker to have thier heart stop beating. Long story short, continued on my way to Tennessee made my store deliveries returned to Atlanta got dispatch home. The next day at the VA Clinic it was determined that one of my pacer leads had malfunctioned causing the reset. I am Currently scheduled to enter VA Hosp in Tampa on 12/11 have pacemaker #6 inserted and have the wiring brought up to code(slight joke). Will be back home on 12/13 and then take a week off, then back in my truck. But never fear, I won't miss a word of the "129th Chatter" as I never leave home without my Laptop and Aircard. Sue & I are putting up our Christmas tree today and among our many ornaments all of which have special meaning are the ornaments that Gale and Debbie sent us from the 129th. It brings back memories of Christmas of 1966 which was spent in Kontum. Bill Jamison and I shared a small hex tent at the time. Bill was a crew chief who crewed the old man's ship at the time. I talked to Paul Harder a couple years ago. He has kept in contact with Bill who I think is from Fresno CA. Paul was the crew chief for Lt Brague when he was killed in the Kontum area. Paul now lives in central Minnesota. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and happy holiday. We really appreciate Gale and Debbie thinking of us.

I Pray that as we come close to Christmas that we all remember our Savior and Redeemer even Jeses Christ our older Brother, and how He gave us a 2nd chance, I know that I do not right verry often but I do read the log on a regular bases and don't quiet know how to fit in here, like Alex and some of the others that served togeather in 65-66 it matter not as we all know that we had a comman goal.
